Looking Back: This past Sunday we finally were able to get together! And thanks to everyone who made an effort to be present. We enjoyed a wonderful meal, an excellent meeting, and a worship service where we focused afresh on our Savior Jesus. Speaking of Jesus, we continued in the series “Satisfied with the Savior.” Hebrews reminds us that fundamental to finding satisfaction with the Savior comes from acknowledging that Jesus is Lord! When we submit to Jesus as Lord then finding satisfaction in anything else makes no sense, it is not even possible. And what is it about Jesus that makes all this satisfaction true? Jesus alone remains forever! May you increasingly know the Savior who is forever! Everything else in life transitions, not Jesus. He is always the same!
Looking Ahead:
Moving forward, this coming Sunday we ask the question – “why are we satisfied?” Ever either received or bought something new only to become quickly dissatisfied with it? Critical to being satisfied is recognizing what we have. I noticed last Sunday how soiled and dirty my winter coat is becoming. Frankly, I was dissatisfied! I should have bought a new coat on Black Friday. But, what of the thousands of people who have no means to get a new coat. As I thought on that, I was embarrassed by my dissatisfaction. Being satisfied in Jesus recognizes what we have in Him is really important. In Jesus Christ we have all we need both for now and for eternity. Further, what we have in Jesus is absolutely reliable. You can go to the bank on Jesus. And what we have in Jesus is a great salvation. We are freed from the punishment due to being sinners. And finally, what we have in Jesus is authentic. It’s the real thing! So, join us this Sunday and be encouraged that we can be truly satisfied in Jesus!
Looking Beyond: February 15th is part of both Valentine’s Day weekend and President’s Day. We are privileged to focus in on “man’s failure and Christ’s success.” We can be satisfied because of Jesus!
