Looking Back: We continued last Sunday in our series “Satisfied with the Savior.” I know Sunday seems like a long time ago, but do you remember our focus was on the question – “why are we satisfied?” The answer was reasonably straightforward – we are satisfied because in Jesus we recognize that what we have in Him is important. Think about it – in Jesus we have all we need for eternity, both now and forever. Have you ever considered that Jesus is absolutely reliable? And frankly, what else is reliable in this life? Not only is Jesus reliable, but He is also a great salvation, and we have been freed from the punishment that is due us as sinners. I love the way the Hebrews text brought us to realize that Jesus is authentic. That’s another reason why we can be satisfied with Him. He’s the real McCoy!
Looking Ahead:
We move forward this Sunday to Hebrews 2:5-8, a passage titled in the English Standard Version of the Bible – “The Founder of Salvation.” Do you like that? Founders are special. This year is our 250th Anniversary as a country. Our founders were really significant to what America became. So, Jesus is significant to our faith as our founder! The text in Hebrews 2:5-8 reminds us that Jesus successfully completed what Adam our first parent failed to do. He was then “crowned … with glory and honor.” Because Jesus succeeded where Adam failed everything is under His control. But the end of verse 8 reminds us – “at present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.” Right now, Jesus is in control! You would never know that looking at the nightly news, hearing what others around us are going through, and some of the challenges in our own lives! So, join us Sunday!
Looking Beyond: February 22nd we will discover a mighty promise – together with Jesus we are satisfied. Being a disciple of Jesus is not a solo sport – it’s team all the way. With Jesus we are of the same family!
