A weekly look back and look forward from Pastor Wayne
Looking Back: I trust the fragrance from this past Sunday is still “hanging” on you. He is Risen; He is Risen indeed! I love the fact that the Resurrection of Jesus points forward to the Ascension and the return to Jerusalem. Perhaps you recall that everything we celebrated this past Sunday looks to our final destiny – the New Jerusalem “coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Rev. 21:4b) Thinking of our destination I reminded us that in the Resurrection, in the New Jerusalem, Adam and Eve have been renewed! The New Jerusalem is our Miss America, the place where God dwells with those who have repented of their sins and put their trust in Him! My prayer is that this would be the place all of us would dwell, now and forever!
Looking Ahead:
This coming Sunday we celebrate the Lord’s Supper and return to our special series from the book of Hebrews. The theme from Hebrews 4:1-7 focuses on the privilege of entering Jesus rest. Like God, we are being called to rest from our works. In other words, instead of trying to earn our salvation, we enter God’s rest. We do this by believing the gospel which reflects what we are called to obey! Here’s what so incredible from the passage we will consider Sunday – “today is the day of salvation.” Now is the time we cease trying to do it ourselves and instead we put our faith and trust fully in the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. Join us for a wonderful service with teaching, the Lord’s Supper and our 9.30 class to precede.
Looking Beyond: April 19 moves us ahead in the “Satisfaction with the Savior” series. Our focus from Hebrews 4:8-13 “Rest, Renewal, Revelation.” You won’t want to miss this special focus!
