A weekly look back and look forward from Pastor Wayne
Looking Back: Our focus this past Sunday found us back in the book of Hebrews. The theme from God’s Word reminded us that salvation is not something we work for, rather we rest in Christ’s finished work on the Cross. We were encouraged to put our faith fully in the gospel. It’s a delight to obey the gospel by putting your faith fully in the good news of Jesus Christ. Are you doing that? Is that how you are living for Jesus? The text from Hebrews 4:1-7 reminded us that “today is the day of salvation.” That means we must not put off to tomorrow what we must focus on today. Today, if we hear God’s voice, we will trust Him fully for our salvation! May that be increasingly true in your life!
Looking Ahead:
Sunday is coming – it’s but three days away. As many of you know, I have one final trip to California this spring that keeps me away from Sunday service. I recorded the message from Hebrews 4:8-13 last Sunday after service. Janet will be leading the service as Doug is still recovering from his open-heart surgery. Speaking of Doug, I saw him and Kathy this morning at Hershey Med. Doug is making good progress, but the recovery still has several steps. He will be going home tomorrow. Pray for the rest he needs! Pat Hall has now gone to rehab and will likely need physical therapy for a season. Continue praying for her recovery. Mike Dzuzelewski, Marilyn’s husband, should be soon going to rehab as well. Pray for his recovery from pneumonia. Normally I share more in terms of the message, but we will leave that a big secret for now. Be sure to read the text in advance as we focus on “rest, renewal, and revelation.” Btw, the new steps were poured yesterday, so I anticipate that for Sunday, you should be able to use both parking lots. No 9.30 Bible Study this week as I’m away and Doug is recovering. We continue April 26th.
Looking Beyond: April 26 moves us ahead in the “Satisfaction with the Savior” series. Our focus from Hebrews 4:14-5:4 will be “Firmly hold to your Faith.” Plan to join us!
