A weekly look back and look forward from Pastor Wayne

Looking Back: Last Sunday Doug shared the message on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. God clearly used Doug’s message as evidenced by the reports I’ve heard. Thank you, Doug!

Looking Ahead:

Sunday December 14 will be a special Sunday as we continue our Advent series from the book of Ruth. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Prepare for our family meal by taking time to confess your sins, ask for forgiveness, and receive Christ’s forgiveness. The message this Sunday is titled: “Ruth discovers Peace in a Provider.” Have you ever considered that if we had no needs, we would hardly need a relationship with our Provider, Jesus Christ!

Naomi returned to Bethlehem as Mara, meaning bitter. She believed God had made her life bitter. Bitter was about to become better! And the way to better required Ruth to seek after God’s peace. Peace is found as Ruth goes to glean in the fields. Lo and behold, whose field does Ruth find herself in? The field of Boaz who was from the clan of Ruth’s deceased father-in-law. Gleaning in Boaz’s field, Ruth discovers God has prepared the way through Boaz who is about to become Ruth’s provider. Generosity can be seen in the provision by Boaz, and it’s Naomi who recognizes the LORD at work.

Join us this Sunday and learn more about God’s provision in your life. This provision is through the person of Jesus Christ, the bread of life, whose blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins!

Looking Beyond: December 21st, we continue our Advent series from the book of Ruth. Please plan on reading Ruth 3 in advance. Also, follow the Advent devotionals which relate to the themes and to the book of Ruth. The theme on Dec 21st is “Ruth receives blessing through obedience.” Gifts for the family we are assisting this Christmas will need to be at the church by December 21st!
