Are you looking forward to Sunday? Two special days converge this Sunday. Of course, Sunday is the Lord’s Day, the first day of the week, so every Sunday is special, but this coming Sunday is extra special because it is both Father’s Day and the summer solstice, the first day of summer, and the longest day of sunlight in the year!

When I was a kid, I always looked forward to summer. “No more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks.” “Summertime and the living was easy.” Sun, sand, and surf! Long days with time for swimming, picnics, and vacations.

As adults, summer is not quite the treasure it was when we were kids. Responsibilities don’t cease just because old “Soliel” is out longer! Nevertheless, I trust you will find time this summer for family, friends, and faith! Just because it’s summer, God doesn’t go on a holiday, nor should His worship.

The second celebration this Sunday is Father’s Day. The origins of Father’s Day here in America go back to 1910. Here’s what so incredible, as we celebrate father’s this coming Sunday. We’re reminded that we serve and worship a heavenly Father! Indeed, our model for being effective fathers, is God our Father.

Using the text in Matthew 7:7-11, we will be reminded that God gives us good things because He loves us and we are His. Don’t miss this Sunday as we will discover some of the good things the Father gives us!

God never fails, He is always our God and He strengthens us, helps us, and upholds us. Earthly fathers have the same privilege.

See you Sunday at 9.30 for Bible Study and 10.30 for the morning service! Sunday June 28th we will continue our series in the book of Hebrews.
