A weekly look back and look forward from Pastor Wayne

Looking Back: For those of you who were able to be in attendance this past Sunday you are aware that the sermon was cut off at about 22 minutes. Our sincere apologies. Here then is a summary from the message. Under the theme of “Satisfaction with the Savior – Rest, Renewal, Revelation we considered Hebrews 4:8-13 with three key observations. I. Salvation does not depend on us. It depends on Jesus and we enter God’s rest when we don’t try to save ourselves, rather we lean into Jesus! II. Sanctification depends on the Word! Rather than trying to make ourselves acceptable to God through our deeds, we rest in God’s finished work through Jesus. Finally, III. Seeing is believing. What God is sees when nothing is hidden from Him is whether we are trusting Him for our salvation or trying to work it all out in our strength. May we be people fully trusting God for our salvation!

Looking Ahead:

We move ahead this Sunday with a message from Hebrews 4:14-5:4. The theme will focus on firmly holding to our faith because: I. Jesus identifies with you! II Joyfully you can come to God, and III. Just like Aaron, Jesus represents you. Here are a few things you can look forward to with the message…with Jesus we have One who can absolutely empathize with us. Thus, we can hold firmly to the faith we have! Jesus is our high priest and he gets us.  He experienced all our temptations, but He didn’t succumb, He didn’t sin! As a result of who Jesus is, we don’t need to be afraid of who God is! We can come to God with confidence to find mercy and grace in our time of need! And why is this all possible, because Jesus represents us before the Father! Like the high priest who represented the people, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Himself!

Btw, our 9.30 class on the end times will resume this Sunday! Join us!

Looking Beyond: May is just around the corner! May 3rd we will continue the series from Hebrews with the theme “He didn’t and He did.” We will also celebrate The Lord’s Supper. The following Sunday is Mother’s Day and we will break from the Hebrews series for a special message.
